MST (Maintenance System Technologies) the Pretoria-based enterprise asset management solutions provider, today announced that Rotek Bulk Water Services, a business unit of Rotek Engineering, has confirmed its confidence in the MAXIMO Work and Asset Maintenance Management System.
Rotek Bulk Water Services invested in MAXIMO as the preferred Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for the Komati River Water Supply Scheme. The investment forms part of a contractual agreement between Eskom Hydro and Water and Rotek Bulk Water Services to optimise the operation and maintenance of the Komati Water Supply Scheme by Rotek on behalf of Eskom.
MAXIMO was selected as a preferred CMMS based on technical requirements, user friendliness and best functionality fit for Rotek Bulk Water Services` present and future business needs. MAXIMO will also enable Rotek Bulk Water Services to meet certain requirements and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) stipulated by Eskom Hydro and Water in the agreement.
A physical plant survey, "Plant Walkdown", was performed to establish the equipment baseline information. Baseline information forms the foundation on which a successful implementation of a CMMS is built. This foundation was established during the asset survey in which the following information on all maintainable items was collected.
* Generic description;
* Area in which the item resides as well as the area the item serves;
* Physical location;
* Equipment parent/child relationship;
* Specific description; and
* Technical specifications.
The real benefits that a business can realise from automated (computerised) processes and data management lies in the set-up of the system and configuration of baseline data. Emphasis will therefore be placed on sound implementation methodology during the implementation phase of this project.
Danie van Vuuren, MST Sales Director, comments: Eskom Hydro & Water and Rotek Bulk Water Services needed a way to simplify and integrate all its work processes while improving the efficiency with which field resources are deployed and managed. MAXIMO will therefore be used as a tool to track all work activities associated with field work execution."
Rotek Bulk Water Services purchased MAXIMO with a goal of achieving the following improvements in maintenance delivery performance:
* Improvement in equipment availability and reliability.
* Reduction in rework and improvement in quality of maintenance work and product.
* More effective utilisation of maintenance resources.
* Reduction in working capital.
* Speedier information flow along the maintenance supply chain leading to better planning and improved resource optimisation.
* Quicker response times due to KPI reporting accuracy and availability.
These objectives are on the verge of being made tangible, as the first phase was completed successfully and significant user buy-in has been established.
