Routes to recovery through IT service management

Recovering from a recession is difficult. Added to that, South African businesses are grappling with skills shortages, BEE requirements and complex new corporate governance legislation.

IT service management (ITSM) has been described as the ultimate business enabler, and is especially important in tough times, where corporates face a range of complex challenges. With this in mind, the organisers of South Africa's definitive ITSM conference and exhibition, SMEXA, will focus this year's event on “Mapping Routes to Recovery” for business. The event is set to take place from 3-4 August 2010 at The Forum, in Johannesburg.

This conference, brought to you by ITWeb in partnership with the IT Service Management Forum of South Africa (itSMFsa), will focus on how soon the South African economy will recover, what the implications are for the IT sector, and how ITSM can help you plan your way out of a recession. Expert guest speakers will also address questions like how to manage risk, do more with less and cope with a range of “people issues”.

Speakers will include national and international ITSM experts, featuring the opening keynote presentation by Bruce Whitfield from Talk Radio 702. Bruce will set the scene by addressing aspects surrounding the mapping of routes to recovery, while taking a look at South Africa, 2010 and beyond. On the second day of the conference, Tom Scholtz, Research VP from Gartner, will address the audience by discussing aspects related to ITSM and corporate governance. His presentation will include opportunities for driving business value, the King III report and a demand and supply model for IT governance.
