RSA encryption software for Ericsson`s mobile Internet-enabled phones

Johannesburg, 19 Apr 2001

RSA Security has announced that Ericsson has chosen RSA BSAFE encryption software to secure its entire line of mobile Internet-enabled terminals and phones. RSA will enable Ericsson to embed a high-performance, reduced-footprint version of the RSA BSAFE encryption software in its suite of wireless devices and provide its users with the same proven security available to wired Internet users.

"Our security software offers a powerful developer solution consisting of strong, high performance cryptography and code," said Peter Burgess, territory manager: sub-Saharan Africa at RSA Security. "The code is optimised to fit in memory constrained devices such as wireless phones and terminals, allowing Ericsson to offer new mobile Internet applications and services to its customers.

"Armed with the strong security foundation inherent in RSA`s core cryptography products, Ericsson can provide its customers with a high level of confidence that their data is protected when they connect to the wireless Web. In addition, RSA BSAFE is designed to simplify and reduce development time, enabling the company to get to market faster with wireless products that meet the needs of its customers," said Burgess.
