S1 standardises on Borland JBuilder for application development of Enterprise eFinance solutions

Johannesburg, 11 Oct 2001

Borland Software Corporation, a leading provider of e-business platform solutions, today announced that S1, a leading global provider of Enterprise eFinance software, has selected Borland JBuilder as its development platform of choice for the S1 Enterprise Platform.

JBuilder is the market leading development platform for implementing e-business applications. S1 is also leveraging Borland VisiBroker for Java, the engine for Internet applications, for the deployment of existing applications.

"We chose to standardise on JBuilder, because it is the leading Java integrated development environment that provides rich functionality and the ability for us to integrate our applications across multiple application servers," said William Floyd, vice president of product development for S1. "The synergies between Borland`s open, standards-based solutions and S1`s Enterprise eFinance applications, enable us to address the unique needs of our financial services customers."`

The S1 Enterprise Platform provides the cornerstone for delivery of customer-centric, transaction-based applications across multiple channels. The S1 Enterprise Platform is designed to help financial services providers deliver consistent interactions through their channels and leverage customer information across the enterprise.

The financial services industry is faced with issues of globalisation, deregulation and the proliferation of non-traditional devices. By standardising on JBuilder, S1 meets customer requirements by enabling the entire S1 development organisation to perform Java/Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) application development more quickly and effectively. JBuilder was designed by developers for developers with ease-of-use in mind.

"Companies increasingly are moving away from proprietary infrastructures to more interoperable solutions, especially given the need for providers to integrate disparate systems and non-traditional devices," commented Manoli Rodokanakis, Country Manager of Borland Software Southern Africa. "Borland provides our customers faster time-to-market, lower total cost of ownership, and freedom of choice in the development, deployment and management of enterprise applications. Working with industry leaders like S1 illustrates our commitment to delivering successful enterprise solutions."
