InfoActive, a SAS quality partner has acquired world-wide distribution rights for Futrix, a packaged OLAP tool for SAS business users.
Director John Day is optimistic about the product and believes the deal to be a feather in the cap for the South African IT industry. "Our potential client base is enormous as it encompasses SAS customers throughout the world. For example, SAS Institute can claim 98 of the Fotune 100 and 90 percent of the Fortune 500 top companies as customers."
According to Ian Sutton, managing director of Pioneer Software in New Zealand, the developers of Futrix, the two companies share a synergy in terms of strategic vision. "Our decision to go with InfoActive was based on their high level of competency and enthusiasm. We aren`t just interested in entering into agreements, we want partnerships. I was extremely impressed with the directors and their blunt no-nonsense work ethics."
InfoActive initially secured distribution rights for the Southern African territories early in 1999, and negotiated the present international distribution agreement later the same year. The company is in the process of appointing a network of Value Added Resellers (VARs) around the world, and already agreements with companies in the USA, Australia, Benelux and naturally South Africa, where substantial user-licenses have already been signed for the leveraging of SAS systems and data.
The product provides SAS users with a world-class front-end to the full range of SAS OLAP capabilities with zero programming effort. The tool is comprehensive with plenty of features and tracking facilities, allowing users to optimise the performance of underlying data structures. As a plug-in tool, information can be accessed within days or even hours of installation.
