Winanza.com, the prize play site, has kicked off its social responsibility promotion, encouraging visitors to vote for their favourite charitable cause. Winanza will donate R1 to the charitable cause of each participant`s choice.

The campaign went live on 11 December, and according to Brian Benatar, founding principle of the company, will run for the next four weeks. The Season of Giving promotion is described as an initiative designed to unite SA`s Internet community in support of charitable causes.

"We`re providing Internet users with a mechanism to facilitate a donation to their favourite cause without having to make the monetary donation themselves," says Benatar. The company has budgeted for R15 000, but Benatar says there is an option to extend the limit in the event of an overwhelmingly positive response.

Proceeds of the promotion will be wholly distributed to registered South African non-profit organisations. Participants can choose from a number of charitable causes including those benefiting HIV/Aids relief, homelessness, hunger, social relief, and animal and child welfare.

The promotion encourages Internet user involvement in Winanza`s interface. Benatar explains: "Winanza has developed this promotion to pursue its social and commercial objectives in tandem, thereby enabling our organisation to grow and become a more active participant in the development of SA`s economic and social landscape."
