Manufacturers today face a bewildering array of business problems such as reducing costs, enhancing perceived customer values, increasing employee productivity and improving supplier relationships.
Bigger still, are the IT challenges manufacturers have to contend with, such as: compatibility; inter-changeability with existing software; customising core applications, such as ERP; and how to make business processes and information available to anyone, anywhere, any time on any device.
These were the concerns raised by Phil Duff, CEO of SYSPRO, at a launch to its partners and VARS (value added resellers) where he unveiled the new corporate and brand identity of SYSPRO, as well as the latest version of the IMPACT Encore software now to be known as SYSPRO Version 6.0.
"After 25 years of delivering world-class software, we have a new look and a new version of our IMPACT Encore product - and in future, our corporate and product branding will be one and the same. Both will simply be known by the name SYSPRO," said Duff.
In addressing the IT challenges facing manufacturers, Duff advised that the technology solution to the issues of inter-changeability and compatibility is a component-based framework that allows collaborative commerce and enables tight integration with best-of-class technologies. More particularly, he feels that enterprise software should be able to solve many of the challenges facing the current climate. ERP systems provide for flow of activity and information across the organisation, i.e. the linking of different manufacturing functions or sub-processes together. Importantly, the implementation of an ERP system forces a higher level of awareness of company processes - not often present before implementation.
SYSPRO Version 6.0, the upgrade to IMPACT Encore 5.1, has improved core functionality, providing groundbreaking new platforms for e-commerce, web services and mobile connectivity. This means that more people, from customers to suppliers to managers, are part of the wider 'information loop'. Better flow of information and seamless integration between front and back office systems provides for what Duff terms "good housekeeping throughout the supply chain". The end result is a more balanced use and free flow of information as well as structures for corporate accountability.
"We are really pleased with our new look. It symbolises our modern approach to helping manufacturers solve their business problems and our ability to deliver the latest technology solution they demand. It is indeed an exciting time for us - we have a great new product and a bright new identity," concluded Duff.
