SA Gazettes: 10 years and still going strong!

By Sabinet Online
Johannesburg, 15 Nov 2004

Sabinet Online's SA Gazettes product came into existence in November 10 years ago and was known as the electronic Government Gazette.

A small start-up company, Gentel, launched the electronic Government Gazette in 1994. Gentel approached Sabinet to become a partner, and in March 1996, Sabinet acquired full shareholding in Gentel. Today, the SA Gazettes product consists of the electronic Government Gazette and all nine Provincial Gazettes, accessible via the Internet.

Sabinet Online would like to thank all its loyal subscribers for their support, and for putting their trust in the SA Gazettes. The clients' continuous feedback assisted Sabinet to develop and add value to the product on an ongoing basis:

Some developments and highlights include:

* The compilation of a weekly Government Gazette Index.

* The introduction of the SA Gazettes alerting service, conducted by one of Sabinet Online's information specialists.

* The creation of the SA Gazettes portal in 2001.

* The introduction of Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files for the Government Gazette.

* The recent addition of a compilation of the indexes of all nine Provincial Gazettes.

* The introduction of a weekly e-mail Newsletter for subscribers, in which all the latest gazettes received are listed.

* The increased use of the SA Gazettes by subscribers in all market segments.

* The availability of the online version, in both PDF and text format, within two working days after the publication of the printed copy.

* The provision of data, such as the "Deceased Estates notices" and "Liquidations notices", for inclusion in companies' in-house systems.
