Vox AmVia is bringing the Captaris Single Click Entry (SCE) to SA. The fax solutions specialist says the application captures data from faxes and allows it to be transferred without retyping into corporate back-end applications.
AmVia sales and marketing director Boudje Giljam says billions of faxes are sent every year, and people end up spending valuable hours working with these faxes to capture information from an existing document; re-keying information such as customer numbers or entire pages of text.
“Everybody hates doing it, but until now there hasn't been a choice. SCE solves this problem."
SCE allows users to copy and paste information from document images in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, or in Captaris applications, according to a statement from AmVia.
SCE analyses the copied text and extracts metadata, using optical character recognition software to populate fields in Microsoft files or Web forms for indexing or further processing, it adds.
A business process is started when the data is extracted and populated to a database or file. Images in SharePoint Server 2007 and Captaris applications are available for SCE automation.
SCE is expected to reduce the number of qualified employees doing menial tasks, Giljam says. "Not only does it result in unnecessary costs, but it's also a source of frustration for employees, and it opens the potential for finger error, which then cascades through enterprise systems and manifests in persistent data quality issues."
