With the theme of 'Deriving Value from Oracle', the annual South African Oracle User Group (SAOUG) conference, to be held at Sun City from 6 to 8 October at Sun City, is geared to provide maximum value for users of Oracle software across the board.
According to Bryan Roestorf, the conference agenda has been designed to avoid vendor and product hype, focusing rather on the experiences of users of Oracle software in an effort to assist them to extract optimal value from the company's technologies.
"Our focus is strongly on delivering sessions from experts within the user community itself, as well as from Oracle partners. The conference is not about hyping products, but rather helping Oracle users to understand and deal with the actualities of using the technology 'in the field' to deliver business value," stresses Roestorf.
"One of the SAOUG's primary goals is to help educate and inform our members of the realities of using Oracle software and assist them, through a process of community and education, to gain the full benefits from the many technologies that Oracle offers," he says.
Roestorf notes that as a private entity fully owned by its membership, SAOUG is independent of Oracle Corporation, allowing it to deliver objective and constructive content at all its events.
The conference programme has been divided into three separate streams - applications and general business, database, and technology and tools - to cater for the full spectrum of users involved in Oracle technology, from database administrator level right through to addressing the issues faced by decision-makers such as company CIOs and senior management.
Delegates to the conference will benefit from papers delivered by experts from around the globe, selected from a variety of vertical business sectors, who will demonstrate their experiences with using Oracle products. Delegates will also learn about emerging business solutions, and network with members of the Oracle user community.
"Oracle itself is also participating in the conference by providing local and international speakers who will focus on and explain various technologies, and give the user community an indication of what they can expect from the company in the future," says Roestorf.
Other Oracle vendors and partners will also be in attendance, displaying their products at the conference exhibition.
"The SAOUG is the premier event for Oracle users to improve their knowledge of the products they work with while networking with experienced users from around the country. With an agenda packed with exciting content, the SAOUG conference promises to deliver greater value to our user community than ever before," concludes Roestorf.
