PM Tech, the South African software solutions development, networking and IT consulting company, has appointed a reseller in Lima (Peru) in a move to address the Spanish-speaking markets of South and Central America.
Mike Leeuwen, a director of PM Tech, says the Latin American markets are facing many of the currency-related challenges also faced by SA, making US or European-developed software prohibitively expensive.
"Through our partner, we are actively targeting countries such as Bolivia, Chile, Argentina and Peru that are expanding their telecommunications and information technology infrastructures, thereby creating opportunities for software for the monitoring and management of Oracle and SQL databases," he says.
Similar US-based solutions would typically cost 10 times as much without many of the features - such as a Spanish command structure and remote monitoring via the Web - which we have incorporated in our offerings," notes Leeuwen. "The PM Ora suite of database monitoring tools, for example, is proving invaluable for Latin American companies that lack in-house database management skills.
"It`s difficult and very costly to recruit or develop local staff in undeveloped areas, but with remote monitoring facilities, large corporations with many branches and depots can enjoy First World database support without expanding their highly skilled labour force unnecessarily," he adds.
