SA wins contract at statue of Christ in Rio

Johannesburg, 04 Dec 2007

Millions of people from all over the world who visit Rio de Janeiro will in future only gain access to one of the latest Wonders of the World, the statue of Christ the Redeemer, by means of South African technology.

DexSecurity Solutions, a South African company, developed and patented this unique access control solution and has successfully sold this to several prestigious international venues. A branch of the South African operation, DexBrazil, has signed a deal via its partner in Brazil, TASK Sistemas.

"Because of its prominence and visibility, this is an extraordinary project in which to get involved," says Daryl Davis, Business Development Executive of DexSecurity Solutions.

"It is a huge compliment for South Africa that a locally developed access control solution should be so highly rated that it can be implemented at such a venue."

The world-renowned statue of Christ the Redeemer was elected in July 2007 by 50 million visitors as one of the new Wonders of the World.

The Dex partnership with TASK Sistemas, in Brazil, has already installed access control systems at six soccer stadiums in South America.

The solution was first implemented in South Africa during the previous cricket World Cup in this country. Since then, the Dex technology has been implemented at several sports stadiums all over the world. Music events at Coca-Cola dome, jazz festivals, A1 GP and other local events have all been done successfully, using this technology. Partnership with Computicket also ensures all Computicket tickets contain the Dex symbol, enabling use with the access solution where required.
