Core systems, IT services and transition
EDS today announced the successful renewal of its IT services contract with South African Airways (SAA). Financial terms were not disclosed.
The deal provides for the continued provision of both IT infrastructure services and core passenger services applications with the return of certain bespoke SAA applications and related services to SAA.
EDS South Africa will provide SAA with mainframe hosting, midrange hosting as well as help-desk services for a five-year period, while EDS Switzerland will deliver reservation, departure control and related systems from its Air Transportation Centre of Excellence in Zurich.
The bespoke application development which has been performed in SA by some 90 EDS staff specifically for SAA will be re-integrated into SAA.
