Saab Grintek Enterprise division reaches out into Africa

Johannesburg, 19 Apr 2007

Saab Grintek's Enterprise division is reaching out into Africa through partnership agreements with local companies. "We believe that is the way of doing successful business," says Andre Marryatt, Partner Manager Africa.

One of the success stories is a partnership with Ghana's E-Services Africa, a company focused on the Contact Centre Communications environment. E-Services Africa was established by its chief executive, Kojo Hayford, a Ghanaian who trained and gained experience in the US.

E-Services Africa, with the support of Saab Grintek in South Africa, landed a large contract from the Ghana telecommunications company, Exzeed, to supply, install and commission a Nortel Contact Centre.

Exzeed opted for the Meridian 1 Option 11C PBX, which is considered to be the number one digital business communications system worldwide. It is capable of expanding from 30 up to 800 users and currently supports 246 rotating agents in 90 seats.

Nortel systems uses a modular architecture for inherent flexibility and cost savings, offering comprehensive features including basic and advanced voice and data communications, easy to use system administration capabilities, and an array of call management, networking and voice messaging features.

The Exzeed installation supports automatic call distribution offering skills-based routing to agents 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Saab Grintek is the first company in Africa to be awarded Nortel EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) Gold Partner status in six categories.

Nortel is a recognised leader in delivering communications capabilities that enhance the human experience, ignite and power global commerce, and secure and protect the world's most critical information. Serving both the service provider and enterprise customers, Nortel delivers innovative technology solutions encompassing end-to-end broadband, voice over Internet Protocol, multimedia services and applications, as well as wireless broadband.

"We believe that our six gold partner status enables us to offer customers innovative solutions supported by local engineers who have Nortel certified training and expertise," said Marryatt.

"We extend these capabilities to our partners and train their personnel to the level where they can deliver locally at the same level as we do in South Africa. In addition, we provide our partners with high level support should a problem not be able to be taken care off locally."

Saab Grintek is continually working on establishing partnerships with local companies in African countries. "While we enhance their technical capability, it is their knowledge of the local environment that contributes to successful and profitable operations," Marryatt said.
