Sabinet Online Limited's Legilink division has launched the Legilink Financial Services Round-up, a weekly electronic update that provides the financial services sector with quick, easy access to current and forthcoming legislation and policies.

Vanessa du Plessis, executive director: Sabinet Online corporate business unit, says the Round-up is a concept much in demand in SA, and an essential monitoring service.

"On subscribing to the Legilink Financial Services Round-up, clients will receive a selected round-up of ministers' speeches, draft bills published for comment, tabled bills, portfolio committee papers and meeting dates, regulations and promulgations.

"Providing information on legislation and policy information electronically on their desktops, the Legilink Financial Services Round-up enables corporate decision-makers to proactively and timeously respond to Parliamentary policy documents.

"With important financial legislation due before Parliament in the coming months, the Round-up will allow financial services companies to be well-prepared for the impact of new legislation on their businesses."

Du Plessis says the information is sourced from Parliament and its committees, the Government Gazette and the SA Press Association reports by experts with in-depth experience in the Parliamentary process.

"The Legilink Financial Services Round-up is e-mailed directly to the client's desktop. Short descriptions indicate the content of the underlying information, with links to the original, full-text documents.

"Also, the most important new information is highlighted, while portfolios are alphabetically listed for ease of reference. "

Du Plessis says the Round-up will facilitate informed decision-making to give companies the competitive-edge.

"It will also assist compliance officers to monitor the legislative environment and company secretaries to comply with the duty to inform the board of changes in the legislative environment."

Sabinet Online has developed the Round-up with valuable input from current clients and interested focus groups, Du Plessis adds.

"Exploring samples of the coming newsletter and giving feedback on its design and contents during the development phase, these parties have enabled Sabinet Online to produce a comprehensive, but focused product for the sector."

Chris Newton, senior consultant: Sabinet Online Legilink, concurs, saying numerous clients indicated that it was imperative for them to have access to such a service as the Round-up.

"The world is moving from an information economy to an attention economy, which means the time span for absorbing information is getting shorter and shorter.

"Businesses want to have very fast and easy access to a wide range of factual information that specifically matters to their operations."

Newton says the Legilink Financial Services Round-up's convenient, comprehensive weekly package, with its series of short announcements and highlights offers just that.

Sabinet Online, an expert in facilitating value-added electronic access to information for over 19 years, will shortly provide a similar service to its clients in various other vertical market segments.
