Safmarine has been awarded the "Excellence in Shipping e-Commerce" accreditation from the British Institute of Transport Management (ITM) for its Web site
www.safmarine.com
, having incorporated important advances in the functionalities offered to its customers.
Announcing the award, Patrick Sheedy, Media & PR Director of the ITM and Chairman of its Ports and Shipping Committee, said: "Safmarine faced extremely strong competition from other e-commerce providers, and we feel that this accreditation is one that will contribute to the final decision in online booking and tracking selection for many purchasing managers. We appreciate the contribution that our shipping manager members have made to the awards programme and endorse their selection of Safmarine for this prestigious accolade."
Integrated IT business solutions provider, Safmarine Computer Services (SCS), was responsible for the site upgrade, offering real commercial transactions which are fully Web-enabled; online container booking, cargo tracking and tracing, voyage enquiry, online Bill of Lading viewing and verification and printing.
'It is now no longer sufficient to only use the Internet for accessing static information; e-business is all about improving relationships with customers by making it convenient for them to get to critical information and process services all day, everyday," says Paul Vaughan, managing director of SCS.
Further enhancements to www.safmarine.com are planned in the coming quarter.
