Sahara releases a motherboard for gamers

Johannesburg, 29 Apr 2003

Local Asus distributor, Sahara Computers, has announced the A7N8X motherboard, which, with an array of updated technologies, is said to provide extraordinary audio and video experiences.

Says Atul Gupta, managing director of Sahara Computers: "Incorporating AGP Pro/8X into the motherboard automatically doubles the bandwidth of the AGP slot, providing enhanced graphics performance, while Dolby digital 6-channel support brings remarkable sound quality."

Gupta explains that onboard 1394/USB 2.0 interfaces further enable smooth audio/video data transfer between DV/MP3 players and systems. In addition, Dual-Channel DDR400 and Serial ATA technology significantly enhance overall system performance, while a dual LAN design and Windows' native Internet connection streamline the networking platform.

"Incorporation of the NVIDIA SoundStorm on the motherboard delivers the full power of surround sound audio," says Gupta. "The difference is particularly apparent to gamers and music enthusiasts who will be able to play games and audio tracks with digital cinema clarity on home theatre receivers or digital PC speaker systems."

Also incorporated on the board is ASUS COP (CPU Overheating Protection), a hardware protection circuit that automatically shuts down system power before temperatures go high enough to permanently damage the CPU. "Furthermore, constant, high-pitched noise traditionally generated by heat-sink fans are a thing of the past thanks to ASUS Q-Fan," says Gupta. "The ASUS A7N8X with Q-Fan technology adjusts fan speeds according to system loading to ensure quiet, cool and efficient operation."
