SAICA launches electronic invoice delivery through Emailco

Johannesburg, 24 Jan 2003

The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) has improved its service offering to members by delivering annual membership invoices electronically.

Says Rob Theunissen, Executive Director (Business) of SAICA: "We will deliver approximately 18 000 invoices in 2003, and needed a solution that provided for the immediate delivery of member invoices through a more cost-effective channel."

Migrating SAICA's invoicing from a paper process to an electronic process was best achieved through e-mail. E-mail invoices are almost identical in appearance to their print counterparts and would therefore have the least impact on SAICA's member experience.

The E-mail Corporation, SA's specialist in secure electronic document delivery and multi-channel messaging, provided the solution for SAICA's e-billing requirements.

The E-mail Corporation's FinMail system facilitates the secure delivery of electronic invoices without burdening SAICA clients with complicated technical processes.

Says Mike Wright, CEO of The E-mail Corporation: "One of the main advantages of the FinMail system is that it is user-friendly for the customer while giving detailed tracking reports of the delivery of each document.

SAICA's first e-billing run was at the end of October 2002 where they successfully delivered 18 000 invoices to their member base. Their second run will be at the end of January 2003, where they estimate they will deliver approximately 9 000 invoices to the 50% of their member base who have not yet paid their membership fees. Their next billing run will be at the end of March, where an estimated 4 500 invoices will be distributed via e-mail.

Says Theunissen: "To date, there has been minimal impact on SAICA's Help Desk. In fact, operators report having received queries from only 0.1% of our member base."

Says Wright: "The key success of The E-mail Corporation's solution is that we specialise in the delivery of time-critical and highly secure and sensitive e-mails, and supply full reporting and delivery statistics."
