Sainsbury`s selects NCR`s Teradata warehouse, CRM solution

Teradata, a division of NCR Corporation, represented in SA by National Data Systems (NDS), has announced that London-based Sainsbury`s Supermarkets has decided to replace its existing Oracle data warehouse with a Teradata warehouse. NDS is a member of the Bytes Technology Group.

The system will also support the implementation of Teradata`s customer relationship management (CRM) Version 4 solution and enable Sainsbury`s to drive more targeted and personalised communications, improving decision-making throughout the company.

Sainsbury`s, working in partnership with Accenture - which was recently awarded the contract to outsource and re-platform the retailer`s information technology infrastructure - selected the Teradata solution after evaluating a number of offerings from other companies.

The data warehouse and CRM solution will be rolled out over the next 18 months at Accenture`s and Sainsbury`s IT centre in London.
