Local value added distributor, AmVia has announced that Captaris Inc, has sold its CallXpress product line, which primarily includes the company`s voice and unified messaging assets, to Sound Advantage, a leading developer of next-generation communications applications.
Robyn Grobbelaar, AmVia`s head of operations, says: "The announcement of this deal is good news for AmVia, our resellers, and our CallXpress users as product continuity has been assured, thus ensuring that customer investments are safe."
In terms of the deal, AmVia will be entering into a distribution agreement with Sound Advantage, guaranteeing business continuity. During the transitional period, AmVia will continue to fully support CallXpress from an operational, distribution, support and marketing perspective.
"Current CallXpress channel partners can expect business as usual," says Grobbelaar, explaining that Captaris is transferring a team of key CallXpress associates from all facets of the business to become employees of the new owner - thus reinforcing uninterrupted business and partner relationships.
Business structures around other Captaris product lines including RightFax and Infinite Mobile Delivery remain unchanged.
Sound Advantage plans to incorporate its existing conversational speech-recognition technology into CallXpress, resulting in a combined product offering that will offer superior voicemail, unified messaging and speech technology to existing and new customers.
Captaris has stated that it has achieved its objective of finding a buyer that can apply greater focus and attention to the CallXpress business, thus protecting the long-term interests of Captaris partners, customers and associates. In addition to this, it is anticipated that the sale will augment Captaris` goal of maintaining its position as the dedicated leader in the premise-based business information delivery market.
Grobbelaar concludes: "Ultimately, there is no change in the local distribution and partner model. The announcement is a mutually beneficial and synergistic proposition for all parties concerned. With Captaris` improved focus, we have the finest business information delivery solutions on the market coupled with Sound Advantage`s next-generation unified communications solutions."
