Samsung Electronics SA has appointed Matthew Thackrah as deputy MD. In this newly-created dual role, Thackrah will continue as head of consumer electronics and IT solutions for the brand.
Thackrah has been with Samsung SA for more than a decade and has a “wealth of knowledge and experience across the broader Samsung product portfolio”, Samsung says. “His expertise lies in strategy implementation, as well as forecast and retail management - areas that will aid the continued growth of the brand across SA.”
Earlier this month, Deon Liebenberg, formerly MD of Samsung Electronics in SA, took up the post of head of Telkom Business Mobile.
“Having been with the Samsung brand for a number of years, I am pleased to accept this position and certainly look forward to the opportunity to not only add value to the brand, but to work with a team of exceptionally talented people,” says Thackrah.
“I will continue to focus on developing the broader consumer electronics market locally and across our African shores - enabling a more intuitive and smarter life for the consumer.”
George Ferreira, VP and COO at Samsung Electronics Africa, says Thackrah is the perfect candidate for the role due to his industry experience, leadership capabilities and expertise.
