Samsung in app download drive

Samsung is offering prizes that include its Galaxy S II smartphone and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in an application download competition.

Paulo Ferreira, head of Mobile Product and Business Solutions at Samsung, says consumers can enter the 'Most Downloads Contest' by visiting the Samsung Apps Store. “The more [apps] you download, and the more points you gather, the better your chances of winning,” he says.

According to Arthur Goldstuck, MD of World Wide Worx, apps are a way to attract and keep customers. He says the key to apps is the repeat use of a . Goldstuck points out that once users have an app, they are far more likely to use the app than to visit a mobile Web site.

He argues that manufacturers can be expected to increasingly encourage the use of apps on their devices. “Most developers as well as manufacturers are going to be pushing apps heavily in the coming weeks,” he says.

According to Samsung, the competition will run until 31 October for the Bada and Android platforms.
