Samsung launches US Networks Division

Entry into the US Market is part of strategic global expansion

Samsung Telecommunications America (STA) announced the debut of its Networks division in the United States. Samsung`s Networks division combines local-and-wide-area capabilities providing complete solutions for customers in public and enterprise markets. This expansion signifies Samsung`s intent to become a global leader in the networking industry, matching its success in other categories including semiconductor memory chips, monitors, and handsets. Drawing on more than a decade of communications experience in Korea, the Networks division offers expertise in the areas of switching systems. Fiber Optics systems and LAN products thus allowing businesses with domestic and/or international presence to capitalise on global opportunities. "Samsung is committed to building its networking business globally, and therefore the US market is key to our success worldwide," said Jeong Han Kim, president of STA. "We have the experience and resources to bring our customers reliable networking products of the highest quality." Samsung has invested millions of dollars to research and develop WAN and LAN products for the global marketplace. In 1994, the company established two US-based R&D labs, the Broadband Network Lab in Dallas and the Computer network lab in Boston. These labs, which collectively are the foundation for US operations. Focus on developing value-oriented, cutting-edge networking products for customers worldwide. For the public network market, Samsung provides switching products deploying asynchronous transfer mode (ATM). Targeted customers include carriers, Internet service providers, and corporations. This month, Samsung debuts STARacer, a comprehensive switching platform that brings together multi-service integration and carrier-class fault-tolerance. STARacer is available through a direct value forum and distribution partners. Samsung also services the enterprise market with Ethernet and ATM-based workgroup solutions. Product offerings include NICs, hubs, and switches. The division recently launched and innovative reseller program to support workgroup VARs, STA, a Dallas-based subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Company, researches, develops and markets telecommunications and data communications systems within the United States. Other than the Networks division. STA has four main business units: Wireless Systems, Wireless Terminals, Business Communications, Office Automation. Samsung Electronics Company, a $19billion flagship company of the Samsung Group, has been providing state-of-the-art communication solutions since 1984. The Samsung Group is the 14th largest company in the world, with revenues in excess of $90 billion.
