Samsung Telecommunications America`s (STA) Networks division announced the debut of STARacer, a high-capacity, multi-service network switching platform that offers integrated data communications and telecommunication services based on ATM technology. "For mission-critical applications, network performance and reliability are an absolute necessity," said Mark Stubbe, vice president, Networks division. "STARacer fulfills the promise of broadband switching by providing network operators with scaleable, flexible solutions that will simplify their network and enable new services and revenues." STARacer allows organisations to migrate from TDM to ATM on a single platform while complementing existing investments in routers and frame-relay switches. It can be deployed as an edge switch for larger carriers or as the core of smaller carriers and corporate WANs. STARacer is a carrier-class fault-tolerant switch that supports switched and permanent virtual channels, dynamic routing, and comprehensive network management. In addition to low-and high-speed ATM access, the switch facilities frame relay and circuit emulation services11/E1 and T3/E3 speeds. Enchanted traffic management features and sophisticated connection priority and preemption techniques combine to ensure low transport latencies and exceptional throughput. STARacer is the result of Samsung`s decades of networking experience as the leading supplier of WAN equipment in Korea.
