Samsung samples power saving DDR3
Samsung is sampling the industry's smallest 2Gb DDR3 devices, says Marketwatch.
By using 50nm-class circuit technology, productivity of the new devices is 60% higher than DDR2 devices of an equivalent density.
The 2Gb chip replaces dual-chip solutions having two 1Gb memory devices, and reduces power consumption by at least 40%, which is critical in server applications as well as next-generation desktops and notebooks
HP announces expansion plans
HP will roll out 7 500 new stores in 1 000 cities and experience stores across the Asia Pacific region, reports IndiaTimes.
With these new stores, HP aims to broaden its consumer reach to 25 000 retail partner stores in the region by 2010.
HP will come up with the world's first EA experience store in Hong Kong with a wide range of desktops and notebooks installed with game-specific desktop icons and skins contributing to enhanced experience for gamers.
Acer shipments to improve
Acer has shipped 139 million PCs in the first half of 2008, of which, desktop PCs accounted for around 76.2 million units and notebooks 62.6 million units, states Digitimes.
The company aims reach its shipment goal of 507 million notebooks in 2008 and to account for a 30% share of the market.
Acer estimates that the netbook market will increase to 50 million units by 2009 and will consume part of the notebook market.
Share
