As of yesterday, Samsung customers had access to the AlwaysOn WiFi service, providing free WiFi access at more than 1 000 local hotspots.
Customers will be able to register any of their Samsung WiFi-enabled smart devices purchased after March 2010 for the free WiFi service.
This gives them 1GB of free AlwaysOn WiFi data every month, for 12 months, for each Samsung device they own.
To use the service, all customers need to do is locate the nearest AlwaysOn hotspot and register on the AlwaysOn network.
Once in the hotspot, customers need to connect to the AlwaysOn network using their Samsung devices.
Customers should then register on the site and can then begin using the AlwaysOn WiFi hotspot. Once the 1GB of data is depleted, customers can purchase additional data from the AlwaysOn WiFi portal at standard rates.
"Our customers are now able to gain additional value every month using the countrywide AlwaysOn network in conjunction with their 3G connections - by connecting via the AlwaysOn network," says George Ferreira, VP and COO at Samsung Electronics Africa.
AlwaysOn hotspot locations can be found at finder.alwayson.co.za.
