Samsung unveils 'world's smallest printer'

Samsung Electronics has unveiled a compact colour laser printer, CLP-315, said to be the world's smallest colour laser printer, reports AMEInfo.

“Our new CLP-315 smallest colour laser printer, exclusive NO NOIS print engine, and laser quality prints give the perfect reason to upgrade to the lightest colour laser printer CLP-315,” said Mehdi Heidari, business head of printers, digital printing division at Samsung Gulf Electronics.

At 9.6 by 15.3 by 12.3 inches, it's certainly the smallest ever tested and the lightest by far.

Epson updates WorkForce line

Epson unveiled two additions to its WorkForce line of business printers, a wide-format printer and a networked all-in-one, states PCMag.

The Epson WorkForce 1100 is a printer geared to small businesses. It can print documents at a range of sizes from 3.5 inches by 5 inches, up to 13 inches by 19 inches; plus banners up to 13 inches by 44 inches.

The 1100 offers duplexing including dual black-ink cartridges for increased black ink capacity. It also comes with a one-year warranty, with free lifetime phone support for registered WorkForce owners.

Merge acquisition improves imaging software

Merge Healthcare, a medical imaging software vendor, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Confirma for approximately $22 million in stock, says HealthDataManagement.

Confirma sells computer-aided detection technology to ease identification of suspect patterns or abnormalities in a medical diagnostic image.

Its CADstream flagship product has more than 1 200 systems implemented for breast and prostate MRI exams, with other applications in development, according to the vendor.
