SAP acquisition boosts
business intelligence (BI) capabilities a boost with the acquisition of Right Hemisphere, a New Zealand 3D software vendor, reveals The Register.
Right Hemisphere makes software for manufacturers to visualise business processes and SAP aims to add these technologies to core products. The software giant said the Kiwi firm will help SAP “set a new standard in helping companies achieve more efficiency, accuracy and flexibility”.
Michael Lynch, Right Hemisphere's CEO, says: “The combination of SAP's vast set of business information and Right Hemisphere's visualisation capabilities will change the way businesses of any size create, manage and deliver products and services across their enterprise and their supply chain.”
According to The Times of India, Right Hemisphere's software would let SAP's customers see animated views of products to improve design, assembly and support, says SAP.
While customers have long been able to integrate 3-D CAD (computer-aided design) software with their SAP environments, the acquisition of Right Hemisphere represents a bigger step into 3-D visuals for SAP, says PC World.
In addition, Right Hemisphere positions itself as an easier-to-use alternative to CAD.
