SAP executive appointed president of Information Technology Association

Johannesburg, 22 Jul 2010

SAP's Group Co-operate Affairs Executive, Sunil Geness, has been appointed president of the Information Technology Association (ITA).

The ITA represents companies that supply information technology equipment, systems software and services to the ICT sector, and works closely with government, consumer and other organisations to promote industry best practice.

Geness joins a distinguished panel of board members, including Tebogo Makgatho, Marketing and Sales Director at Torque IT; Janette Cumming, Director at Paracon; and Vishan Reddy, Account Manager from Dell.

Geness, with the help of other board members, will be responsible for lobbying and negotiating at government level on behalf of the ITA's members, which include industry-giants Siemens, Microsoft and the SA Reserve Bank.

Prior to Geness's appointment, he held the position of Government Relations Manager at the South African State Information Technology Agency as well as a senior management position at the Department of Public Service and Administration.

Geness brings a wealth of experience in project management and good governance to our board. We are excited to welcome him into the fold and look forward to making him an integral part of the ITA.
