SAP, HP expand BI collaboration
SAP and Hewlett-Packard have expanded their business intelligence (BI) collaboration, through the integration of SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse with the HP Neoview enterprise data warehouse platform, reports eWeek.
The integrated product will allow users to deploy SAP NetWeaver BW and SAP's BI-oriented analytical applications on the HP Neoview platform, which provides for sorting, managing and accessing massive amounts of database information via parallel processing and shared-nothing architecture.
Theoretically, the integration will optimise the end-user acquisition and provisioning of high-volume operational data.
Oracle updates BI offering
Oracle is holding its customer and developer event, OpenWorld, and has made a lot of announcements, including the release of the latest version of its middleware product and BI tools, states ITPro.
The firm announced the 'planned future releases' of Oracle JDeveloper 11g, Oracle Application Development Framework 11g, Oracle WebLogic Suite 11g, Oracle SOA Suite 11g, and Oracle WebCenter Suite 11g, components of Oracle Fusion Middleware.
Pitched at developers looking to build rich enterprise applications, the release will include new user interface components, including Carousel, which it claims has a look and feel rather similar to iTunes and Java and SOA suites.
Sage offers mid-market ERP solution
Business software giant Sage has unveiled a enterprise resource planning (ERP) offering designed to help meet the needs of mid-market customers frustrated by the high cost and limited functionality of current industry solutions, says Computing.co.uk.
Sage ERP X3 is targeted at what the firm calls the upper mid-market of customers with more complex and/or 'international' requirements than many of their peers, according to the firm.
The software offers finance, sales, customer relationship management, inventory management, purchasing and manufacturing capabilities, underpinned by embedded BI functionality and a strong workflow engine, according to Stuart Lynn, head of research and development at Sage's mid-market division.
