Over 100 customers in Africa have selected global enterprise leader SAP`s Human Resources solution (SAP HR) for human resources service delivery and strategy in their organisations, many being small to midsize enterprises.
"We`re extremely pleased with the number of businesses continuing to commit to implementing the SAP HR solution," says Phillip Booth, product manager: human resources, SAP Southern Africa. "Companies are increasingly realising the value of SAP HR as a complete solution to meet the varying needs of an organisation.
"Customers are using SAP HR to provide a highly flexible solution, enabling them to focus on strategic human resources initiatives, as well as manage daily human resource services. SAP is now recognised as a world leader in the provision of client server HR solutions, and is clearly the market leader in South Africa," says Booth.
Further tailoring its products and services to the mid sector, SAP has entered into various outsourcing agreements. Since January, the company has been promoting a variety of services aimed at increasing the speed and flexibility of its HR solutions.
"We were able to achieve implementation timeframes of weeks not months for a major organisation by applying various accelerators to standard delivered SAP Accelerated Human Resources solutions in conjunction with a variety of business partners," says Booth.
SAP Accelerated Solutions are preconfigured business solutions designed for customers seeking faster, cost-effective SAP implementations. The collaboration between SAP, Microsoft, Hewlett Packard and EPI-USE is providing small and midsize companies a simplified, affordable and reliable SAP solution.
Says Booth: "Through these alliances, SAP HR can now address not only those clients seeking to transform their HR functions, but also Y2K system replacement projects where time is fast running out and outsourcing is recommended as an alternative. After implementation customers of any size can quickly realise the benefits of best business practices, real-time data availability and streamlined business processes."
EPI-USE recently completed a SAP R/3 payroll implementation for Gensec Property Services, in just six weeks - setting a record for the fastest SAP payroll implementation ever completed in Africa.
Gensec began evaluating payroll solutions to solve the company`s Y2K problems in December last year. The implementation phase began in the middle of January, and the payroll system went live on March 1.
According to Pieter Walkinshaw, systems manager at Gensec, the first live payroll ran very successfully. "Our payslips were printed, our ACB payments were correctly made, and the postings went through to the General Ledger with no trouble or delay."
James Brits, marketing manager at EPI-USE, believes a quick payroll implementation makes a lot of business sense for any company wanting to leverage the reduction in administration costs and superior strategic planning ability from a solution such as SAP Human Resources.
