Global software company, SAP says its 32% revenue growth in the previous quarter was the result of its strategy to drive mobile business intelligence (BI), cloud computing and in-memory analytics, designed to solve business problems at a faster rate.
This is according to co-CEO Jim Hagemann Snabe, in his keynote address, at the SAP Sapphire Now and TechEd conference, held in Madrid, Spain, this week. He revealed the business software giant's big plans for mobile, analytics and cloud computing to over 10 000 delegates.
According to Snabe, SAP has reached a tipping point in the organisation's history because of its strategic decision to combine mobile, in-memory BI and cloud computing to enable enterprises to make faster and more accurate decisions, where data can be accessed and processed in real-time.
Snabe said: “At the end of the day, what has caused SAP's success is that we understand business problems. By optimising the business, companies can free up resources to invest in innovation.”
He added: “At SAP, we are challenging the assumption that the desktop is the best way to interact with business software, when the majority of people are mobile. We are challenging the assumption that data needs to be stored in complex data structures on slow-moving disks.
“We live in a world that's filled with uncertainty and volatility. Business needs to manage the situation and assume uncertainty is the new normal.”
Snabe explained how mobile BI, combined with cloud computing and in-memory analytics, has the ability to change the way industries operate.
He pointed to Charit'e University Hospital, in Berlin, Germany, as an example. The hospital uses a mobile SAP solution to enable doctors and nurses to collaborate with one another, share patient information, speed up processes, and reduce patient waiting time.
Snabe added that SAP completed its acquisition of Crossgate. With its business-to-business e-commerce technology, SAP will offer businesses the ability to collaborate with customers and partners through the cloud.
