SAP unveils analytic appliance

(BI) and enterprise applications provider SAP officially unveiled its High-Performance Analytic Appliance (HANA), a technology it says will revolutionise the BI market, states Managing .

“We, generally, believe that HANA and the in-memory technology inside HANA” enables a “once in a generation shift” in how companies conduct BI, says SAP chief technology officer and executive board member Vishal Sikka.

SAP, he says, has spent the last few years exploring ways in which BI software could better use the massive improvements in hardware capabilities enabled by multicore processors and ballooning memory capacities.

BI goes to the iPad

DSPanel, a business user BI company, has made available the latest addition to its Performance Canvas mobile analytics product group, an Apple iPad data visualisation and analytics application, writes PRWeb.

The new iPad application allows users the ability to create, modify and share interactive, real-time visual queries and dashboards wherever they are. Utilising the iPad's touch-based interface, users can drop, rotate, expand and collapse their visualisations, allowing users to truly interact with their data.

Mikael H"aggl"of, vice-president of Sales at DSPanel, says: “We have always aimed to develop software that enables business users to quickly and easily visualise and take-control-of their data queries. With our new iPad functionality, we have utilised the full power of the Safari browser in conjunction with the interactive capabilities of the iPad. This gives users unprecedented control over their data analysis, taking them beyond mere tables to interactive, data rich visualisations.”
