SAP upgrades BI solutions

platform, offering features designed to provide better access to on the go and faster processing of information, says V3.co.uk.

Chief among the Business Objects 4.0 updates is the use of SAP's High Performance Analytic Appliance (Hana) platform running in-memory technology to provide real-time when carrying out business intelligence requests.

According to eWeek, SAP has used the Hana platform in a bid to compete more heartily in the enterprise against Oracle, IBM, Microsoft and other tech giants. In keeping with current trends, the updates emphasise support for mobile devices and information from social networks.

“Being able to engage people, and react instantly to a problem or opportunity, is what we're here to talk about,” says Steve Lucas, SAP's GM and global head of business analytics. “You want information now, immediately, as it happens.”

Meanwhile, Information Week states there isn't much that hasn't been unified, upgraded or left unchanged in SAP Business Objects 4.0.

Unification is the big theme, the report states, as SAP has given a formerly less-than-consistent collection of Business Objects-acquired products a more consistent look and feel, a more cohesive and complete data-integration and data modelling foundation, and a more predictable upgrade schedule.
