SAP upgrades BusinessObjects

SAP has announced enhancements to the SAP BusinessObjects Edge solutions, including SAP BusinessObjects Edge BI, its comprehensive business intelligence (BI) software for small and medium companies, reports AME Info.

Now midmarket companies will be able to use SAP BusinessObjects Polestar software, a guided data navigation application that helps any business user to easily explore information and quickly answer important business questions via simple search.

Following the unveiling of SAP BusinessObjects XI 3.1 solutions, SAP BusinessObjects Edge BI 3.1 also offers integration with data sources from a variety of vendors, including Oracle and Microsoft.

Open source BI vendor JasperSoft is offering an unlimited-use purchase option to customers worldwide, states PC World.

The announcement revives a similar promotion the vendor ran in 2007. The latest comes in two tiers: $35 000 for unlimited use of JasperReports, its embeddable reporting engine, and $50 000 for use of the entire suite.

Under the deal, users receive technical support, advanced documentation and a special training class, according to JasperSoft.

Infobright, the open source data warehousing company, and Jaspersoft, have released an integrated virtual machine download, says Earth Times.

This freely available open source bundle includes Infobright's analytic database and Jaspersoft's BI software, and enables users to quickly deploy a complete analytic solution.

The virtual machine can be downloaded from Infobright.org.
