SAS among 2009 InformationWeek 500 list of top US tech innovators

SAS global project wins honours.

The SAS Global Client Standard Environment project has earned a spot for SAS, the leader in business analytics software and services, on the 2009 InformationWeek 500 list.

The SAS Global Client Standard Environment project won the honour for significantly reducing the effort required of local IT staff to develop and manage their own images, which refers to the packaging of the operating system and necessary software installed on a PC.

The result allows regional IT staff to focus more time on income generating and customer support activities. Standard image and global procurement agreements also reduced the time needed by internal developers to test their applications against locally developed images.

“With the core image now the same across the globe, we can restore a broken computer from any of our global offices for travellers from any other office, greatly reducing employee downtime due to client issues,” explains Suzanne Gordon, SAS CIO.

“For over 20 years, the InformationWeek 500 has honoured the most innovative users of business technology,” says InformationWeek Editor-in-Chief Rob Preston. “Year after year, InformationWeek 500 companies harness technology to improve efficiency, boost productivity, drive revenue, and establish a competitive advantage. We applaud this year's winners, and the CIOs and other executives whose ingenuity and risk taking are at the centre of business technology innovation.”

InformationWeek identifies and honours the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual 500 listing. Now in its 21st year, the listing also tracks the technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of America's best-known companies.
