SAS appoints Business Performance Solutions as VAR

By SAS Institute
Johannesburg, 09 Oct 2003

SAS Institute SA today announced the official appointment of Business Performance Solutions - formerly ABC Technologies, leading provider of activity-based analytic management software - as a value-added reseller (VAR) for the SAS ABM (Activity-Based Management) product range in SA.

Nick Grenfell, managing director at Business Performance Solutions, said to customers at the breakfast briefing, that the deal with SAS South Africa is a significant one.

"Firstly, we have signed a deal with SAS to distribute and support its range of ABM solutions countrywide. This includes the latest generation products, which are integrated with many of the SAS business intelligence solutions. Secondly, we have adopted the Business Performance Solutions name to better illustrate our service offering.

"Cumulatively, this means that we will be in a stronger position to provide our existing and future customers with a superior product service offering," he explains.

Nathalie Ing, strategic partner manager for SAS South Africa, says SAS decided to appoint Business Performance Solutions as a reseller in SA due to its years of experience in supplying and supporting tried and trusted ABM solutions. This is in addition to its large customer base and a healthy complement of sales and technical skills.

"The appointment is noteworthy when one considers that the company is now only the second SAS reseller in the country. This is further underscored by the fact that only a handful of SAS resellers have been appointed globally.

"Users of ABC Technologies' solutions should welcome this deal as they will now be able to continue using their chosen software and be supported by the formidable SAS backbone, which includes implementation, consulting and technical support services through Business Performance Solutions locally," she says.

"Current users of the Oros ABM product can be migrated to the newer SAS ABM solution, thereby making them an integral part of the larger SAS business intelligence landscape," she adds.

Grenfell says SAS ABM6.1 - the Web-enabled solution from SAS launched in September - allows users the ability to scale larger data sets, integrate business rules and analyse the results more effectively.

SAS ABM is the most complete end-to-end ABM solution on the market. By transforming accounting and operational data into meaningful financial intelligence, SAS ABM gives organisations the power to maximise profits, contain costs, improve operational efficiencies and accurately predict future costs and resource requirements.

"Furthermore," says Grenfell, "the integration of ABM with other SAS solutions offers both new and existing customers the opportunity to maximise their return on investment and drive Activity-Based Management principles throughout the organisation. ABM has come of age and is no longer an isolated costing initiative, but a fundamental part of enterprise performance management."
