SAS, the leader in business analytics, today announced that it is again among the annual InformationWeek 500 - a list of the top technology innovators in the US.
SAS' innovative cloud computing initiative - called the SAS Remote Access Computing Environment (RACE) cloud - won the honour and was featured in InformationWeek magazine's “20 Great Ideas”.
With this cloud computing system, SAS is able to deliver dynamic, on-demand computing resources to its research and development team, sales force, customer instructors and internal trainers - giving SAS an advantage in delivering its software and solutions to market, with the quality that customers expect, in a shorter time frame. Reduction of physical space, power and cooling requirements are also benefits, reducing power consumption by more than 40%.
“The RACE cloud is cutting-edge in customer service and environmental sustainability. Getting the great minds of SAS IT together with their business customers in R&D to leverage people, technology and processes helped us develop an excellent solution set - and one that will scale up as our company continues to grow,” explained Suzanne Gordon, SAS CIO.
“For 22 years, the InformationWeek 500 has honoured the most innovative users of business technology,” said InformationWeek Editor In Chief Rob Preston. “As we start to emerge from the worst recession in decades, the IT focus is now on driving growth - new sources of revenue, new relationships with customers, even new business models. This year's ranking placed special emphasis on those companies and business technology executives leading that charge.”
InformationWeek identifies and honours the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual 500 listing, and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of America's best-known companies. Top winners have included: CME Group, Conway, National Semiconductor, Kimberly-Clark, Hilton Hotels and Unum. The InformationWeek 500 rankings are unique among corporate rankings as they spotlight the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
