Bolstering its new Commercial Division business unit, business intelligence giant SAS Institute has announced the appointment of Kevin Kemp as its dedicated sales manager.

Tasked with building up the personal and client relationship skills of the team, Kemp brings with him 17 years of experience, where he has served roles within the insurance, banking and ICT industries.

"We are at an exciting time at SAS and are investing heavily into our people. Kevin's appointment is a key component of this investment," states Kerry Evans, General Manager: Commercial Division at SAS South Africa.

"SAS is undergoing numerous changes, not least of which was the splitting of the commercial and public divisions. It is against this backdrop that we need the right talent in place to be able to assist the business in delivering its promise of unlocking additional value to clients."

Kemp has most recently held senior positions at GijimaAst where he was responsible for the financial services and retail services units within the company. He has also held a number of management positions at a handful of other companies. Kemp's experience extends consultative selling and hands on project management, making him a valuable addition to the SAS team.

"In my experience, I have often come across technology providers that overlook the importance of understanding how business models need to be adapted to meet the unique requirements of the SA market, particularly multinational companies," states Kemp.

"SAS is different, it caters directly to the needs of its customers and ensures that the technology fits to the client, which is simply one of the reasons I am looking forward to working with the SAS team and its clients."
