As part of its e-commerce drive, the South African Department of Communications is sponsoring the e-commerce conference stream at ACT 2000, as well as a stream on eGovernance.
The Department is currently undertaking a major e-commerce policy review and intends to showcase its e-commerce White Paper at the event. The Department will invite government departments from throughout Africa to send delegates to attend the presentations it will sponsor on e-commerce and eGovernance.
"We are entering an exciting phase of IT development in Africa", said Andile Ngcaba, Director-General of Communications, "and it is vital for us to share information and ideas with colleagues from throughout the region. We have decided to support the ACT Summit at Sun City because unlike many other conferences it is an intensive education forum rather than a talking shop. We intend to contribute towards the promotion of practical solutions in the vital areas of government - while at the same time learning from projects and initiatives developed in other parts of Africa. ACT is unique in bringing together IT professionals from throughout the region".
The eGovernance stream at ACT 2000 is also going to be sponsored by The British Council and The Economic Commission for Africa
ACT 2000 is organised by AITEC Exhibitions and Conferences.
