SAS Institute wins CRN Channel Champions Award

By SAS Institute
Johannesburg, 12 Dec 2006

SAS Institute South Africa was the winner recently of the business intelligence (BI) category at the CRN Outlook Channel Champions Awards, held on 6 December at The Venue at Melrose Arch.

This is SAS's debut at the awards, where the company beat out rivals such as Cognos, Sagent, Business Objects, Oracle and Sybase to scoop this prestigious award.

The awards are given to companies based on a Web survey and questionnaires, and in order to qualify a vendor needs to receive a minimum of 10 votes. Competing BI vendors failed to achieve the minimum qualification, leaving the pathway clear for SAS.

SAS scored an average of 5.00 out of a possible 6.00, receiving high average ratings of 5.11 for product quality, 4.44 for value for money, 5.00 for channel strategy/partner programme, 4.67 for communication and information and 5.66 for technical support.

Says Murray de Villiers, Partner Manager of SAS Institute South Africa: "This award is a milestone for SAS South Africa, and I would like to congratulate each and every person at SAS for their contribution. BI is a growing channel in the country, and as such is a great business opportunity for channel partners."

This year is the first time the BI category has been awarded, in recognition of the growth of this market in South Africa.
