According to leading IT market research firm International Data Corporation (IDC), SAS was the largest CRM analytic applications vendor by revenue in 2001.
According to the just-released report, "Worldwide Analytic Applications for Customer Relationship Management Software: Competitive Forecast and Analysis, 2002-2006: A Look at the Top Vendors", SAS showed a revenue increase of 43.5% in 2001, increasing its top-ranked market share by almost 4% in CRM analytic applications.
"This growth clearly demonstrates the continued importance of analytical CRM solutions to help organisations better understand and target customers with tailored interactions," says Bill Hoggarth, SAS SA's managing director.
"SAS leads the analytical CRM field by revenue for the third year in a row and now leads the CRM analytic applications market with an 18.1% share," says Robert Blumstein, IDC's director of CRM analytics. "This growth demonstrates that companies continue to invest in analytical CRM technology, even with the current economic slowdown."
The IDC report examined the CRM analytics software applications market, leading vendor performance, and profiles for 2001 through 2006.
"With budgets being tight and marketers forced to do more with less, analytical CRM has become a powerful initiative for companies in all industries including retailers, telecommunications companies and financial services organisations as they try to make the right offer to the right customer at the right time via the right channel," says Hoggarth.
"The 43.5% growth in SAS' CRM analytic applications revenue unmistakably highlights the market's preference in identifying SAS as the vendor of choice for creating intelligence to better understand and target customers."
IDC also reports that the CRM analytics application software market increased by 12.5% in 2001 to $461 million.
"In SA, the CRM market is growing even faster than this," says Hoggarth, adding that this rapid growth market will reward those vendors who proactively share risk and reward with their customers. SAS CRM solutions are designed to give organisations the knowledge needed to develop and implement smarter customer strategies, to generate more effective customer interactions and to ultimately maximise customer profitability.
The global report endorses local research company BMI-TechKnowledge's prediction that corporate investment in business intelligence solutions, into which category analytical CRM falls, will outstrip growth in the software market this year. In this report, SAS was shown to have the largest market share for 2000 in the SA BI market, with 21% and the nearest competitor with 11%.
