Business intelligence specialist SAS Institute is pleased to announce the launch of a niche series of risk events, aimed at promoting the views of business leaders and experts in the risk environment.
Focused on client testimonials and business best practices, the first of these will be held on 5 June 2008 at the Forum, at the Dimension Data Campus, and will unpack issues related to operational risk.
"Risk is an ever-growing part of business, and it is not something that impacts financial institutions exclusively, but rather impacts all business today," says Andr'e Zitzke, Solutions Specialist at SAS Institute SA.
"The goal of these business breakfasts is not to hear what we as a vendor have to sell in the risk space, but rather to look at the collective experiences of leaders in this field, and look at how they have managed to mitigate risk through the combination of business processes and technologies."
The first of the events will play host to Kevin Maartens, a leading risk expert from Nedbank, and Bevan Smith from the IQ Business Group risk practice. The speakers will walk the audience through their views on how operational risk can pose opportunities to your organisation, and how these opportunities can be turned into real value should they be effectively managed.
Drawing from what they have seen unfold in their own companies, they will talk about creating business value from best practices, common mistakes, and how they have managed to develop environments which not only monitor and measure risk, but assist in preventing it as well.
"The events are open to all looking to develop a better understanding of risk best practices. They will be run over a single morning and attendees will have the opportunity to pose questions to speakers as well as speak to SAS specialists about what is available in the operational risk environment," ends Zitzke.
Other events to look forward to in the series will include the topics: risk dashboards, credit risk, economic capital, solvency and market risk.
