Dimension , Sanlam and DigitalMall were among the winners at the recent Call Centre Industry Africa awards hosted by the Call Centre Group (CCNG) at the Sandton convention centre.

CCNG operations manager Joan Harrison says the event is divided into two categories: industry players and individuals. Nominations are submitted to the CCNG, which then short-lists and interviews finalists in each category.

In the industry awards, the best call centre was awarded to the Sanlam; Emmanuels was awarded the best solutions provider award; the optimal international services of the year award and the maximum employment equity award went to Dimension Data; and the service excellence award was given to Momentum Preferred Client Services.

In the people section, Tracy Lee-Thatcher of Old Mutual received the agent of the year award, while Anri Mossa and Kate Paley of Absa won in the categories of supervisor of the year and manager of the year respectively.

Harrison says a special judges` award was given to DigitalMall. "Although DigitalMall didn`t win in any of the categories, the judges gave them a special award to acknowledge their contributions and innovative solutions to the industry."

Unlike the other awards, companies are not invited to enter this category, which is awarded purely at the judges` discretion.

"The awards were a great success with a thousand people attending the banquet, which was addressed by Dr Alistair Ruiters, director-general of the Department of Trade and Industry, and Andrew O`Callaghan, a council member of the Ireland-SA Business Association," says Harrison.
