Space Age Technologies (SAT), the pioneer behind the proactive and preventative operations management service SATOps, recently launched a new remote platform monitoring service, SATAware, in response to the increase in demand for a specialised monitoring service nation-wide. True to its name, the SATAware monitoring service provides even the smallest company with an elevated level of insight and awareness into the health and availability of their IT systems.
"We believe that a huge advantage of the SATAware system lies in its ability to ensure that IT departments and support providers become more responsive and proactive and to spend less time as fire fighters resolving unnecessary problems," explains Mark Geschke, MD for SAT.
Acting as a third eye, SAT continuously guards the client server against unexpected downtime or system interruptions. "The real-time monitoring capability of SATAware ensures our monitoring division is immediately notified of critical incidents, such as an interruption of firewall services, security breaches or licensing issues as and when they happen, and report them to the responsible support provider, which can be either the client's in-house IT department or an external support provider."
Unlike competing products, SATAware is unique in that it incorporates the very vital human interface. "False and trivial alerts generated late at night are retained by the SAT monitoring division to prevent inconvenient and unnecessary interruptions, says Geschke. "After our monitoring technicians have established the criticality of the incident, it will either be reported for immediate resolution or logged in the support system of the appropriate support provider for resolution during office hours."
SAT has maintained its course in terms of service levels over the past nine years, and was the first South African management service provider to develop a sustainable platform monitoring solution viable for small or large, single or distributed infrastructure environments.
"Proactive infrastructure monitoring is a fundamental requirement for companies of all sizes. The prevention of malicious problems and protection of the company's intellectual property will always remain top priority," says Geschke. "As business owners we should be able to completely trust in our IT department or outsourced service provider to manage essential tasks such as system availability; performance; network security and operations processes effectively."
"Our knowledge, experience and the proven functionality of our SATAware monitoring service have ensured the establishment of many beneficial partnerships with support providers nation-wide. This three-sided relationship between ourselves, the support providers and the client is built on trust in each other's abilities and a keen interest to deliver value to overworked IT departments."
