SAT turns 10

Johannesburg, 03 Nov 2004

Recognised as one of SA's most focused and skilled IT service providers to small and medium organisations, Space Age Technologies (SAT) proudly celebrates its 10th anniversary this month.

Following their dream to build a successful business, Mathias T"olken and Mark Geschke co-founded SAT in 1994 during their second year as Maties engineering students. Armed with little more than their passion, skill and a desire to excel, they started on a journey that they will never forget.

Today, looking back on its rich history, T"olken and Geschke are proud of SAT's accomplishments and are even more enthusiastic about the next 10 years.

"Although we have achieved a lot in the past, it is the future that we are really excited about," says Geschke.

"After building a solid foundation, establishing powerful relationships and continuously refining our mission until it has become the powerful rallying call, 'To be the Trusted Advisor to Small and Medium Organisations', SAT is now uniquely positioned to dramatically expand its client base and deliver best of breed services to a vastly underserved SME market.

"Instead of just paying lip-service to working IT solutions for smaller businesses, SAT passionately believes that most of the exciting innovations of the future will be fuelled by SMEs working together to deliver top-notch solutions. And it is exactly this awakening of the small business sector that we want to be a part of," says T"olken.

Geschke admits that there have been many stumbling blocks in the past. "We wouldn't have succeeded if not for the dedicated people working at SAT. Each challenge we faced was overcome as a team and each step we take from here will be taken as a team."

Although SAT is a small company with less than 20 people, the calibre and integrity of individuals forming part of this highly dynamic team are one of the reasons for its phenomenal success and high regard in IT circles.

"As one of SA's leading providers of IT solutions to small and medium organisations, I am confident that we will continue to make a difference by allowing our moral values to guide us in all our activities," concluded Geschke.

It is this unorthodox philosophy of following your heart, even if it means to not always make the most profitable business decision, that has helped SAT to distinguish itself in a crowded market place. When SAT was recently awarded the 2004 Microsoft Small Business Partner of the Year title, it was another confirmation that it is still possible to build a business based on the old-fashioned principles of trust, honesty and hard work.

In an industry dominated by change there are many uncertainties. One thing that everybody can be assured of is that SAT will continue to lead the small business renaissance.
