The SatCom Africa 2007 conference and exhibition will be hosted from 12 to 16 March, at the Sandton Convention Centre, aimed at offering delegates real-world insight into developments in the satellite communications sector.
According to organisers, a full day of the conference will be dedicated to VSAT technologies, looking at areas such as commercial prospects for the industry, applications in government and defence, and applications in finance, energy and mining.
Topics that will be covered at the event include the latest developments in innovations and technology and how these impact on satellite communications, how regulation and compliance affect the industry, and an overview of strategies for dealing with threats and opportunities.
Speakers at SatCom Africa 2007 include Mosibudi Mangena, SA's science and technology minister; Paris Mashile, ICASA chairman; Dr Henry Chasia, executive deputy chairman of the Nepad e-Africa Commission; David Hartshorn, secretary general of the Global VSAT Forum; and Ham-Mukasa Mulira, Ugandan minister of ICT.
