The Satori Group SA today announced its latest software product, comQuest, a tool that operates within the corporate governance sector of the market, helping to streamline the collection, management and reporting processes of governance and sustainability information.
"The original concept for the development of comQuest goes back to 2004, when Satori identified a gap in the local market for a corporate governance and sustainability information management tool," commented Justin Donlon of Satori Group SA. "We wanted to eliminate Excel as the collection tool and create a Web-based one.
"Since that time and with the feedback and input from some early business partners who were exposed to early versions of the software, the product has evolved into what has been launched today; a simple flexible Web-based tool for the collection of qualitative and quantitative data, as well as the uploading of supporting files and documentation," continued Donlon.
"During the development phase, cognisance was also taken of the JSE's SRI questionnaire and the Dow-Jones Sustainability Index; and, the design is such that any future mandatory requirements that may materialise within the realm of corporate governance could be incorporated rapidly.
"According to one of the larger auditing/accounting firms, the system eliminates many of the frustrations that previously occurred with these 'governance' processes," concluded Donlon. These included:
* Manually e-mailing out Word documents to users;
* Receiving incomplete and poor quality information back because of the cumbersome process;
* The lack of ability to monitor the collection process;
* The lack of context: it was very difficult to compare results across business units, or between versions;
* No audit trail, difficulty in tracking information changes; and
* Waiting for data to be returned, without being able to inspect the quality of the data as it was being captured.
The product announced today is already being utilised within a number of organisations such as Barloworld, Sanlam and Standard Bank.
