Save a tree campaign promotes e-billing

Johannesburg, 04 Jan 2006

Rosebank-based electronic billing software and services company, Striata, is conducting a "Save a Tree" campaign, encouraging e-billing in SA as a way of conserving natural resources.

More than a decade after the Internet became mainstream, many of the key benefits of the digital age are still untapped, with the vision of a paperless office remaining an ideal, says Michael Wright, CEO of Striata.

The Web-based campaign is aimed at promoting awareness of e-billing by enabling visitors to the Web site to sign up for e-billing from a list of companies already providing the service such as Vodacom, MTN, and CellC or indicate which companies they would like to see offer the service.

The campaign will provide active e-billers with a list of customers who would like to receive their bills electronically, Wright says, as well as provide proof to companies not yet offering e-billing that there is a demand for the service.

"In addition to preventing paper wastage, e-billing is much more cost effective than paper billing because it is easier to deliver, store and retrieve, making it the next logical step after online banking in managing finances electronically," says Wright.
