Save paper, streamline workflow
Companies should investigate technologies that can help better utilise the IT gear they already have, increase cost savings and productivity, and reduce their environmental impact concurrently, writes ZDNet.
One area that can easily and effectively cut costs is paper usage. Businesses are well positioned to take advantage of scanning technologies that can move paper into digital workflows. While the 'paperless office' may be a myth, eliminating paper from business processes is a definite reality that translates into tangible results.
Even with reduced budgets and limited resources, IT can take a leadership role in developing information management strategies that merge electronic processes and manual paper-based processes into one efficient workflow.

Tedial demos Apple-integrated system
Tedial introduces functionalities in its suite of solutions that include tight integration with Apple Final Cut Pro at the NAB 2009 show, taking place in Las Vegas this week, reports Sypha Online.
According to Tedial, each element of the system, including Indexer for ingest, analysis, transcoding, transwrapping and metadata; Ficus broadcast BPM; and MPM for creating workflows and managing media, among others, can work together to create workflows based around the operational, creative and commercial needs of the broadcaster.
The new integration with Final Cut Pro extends this capability - access to Tedial functionality is directly from the user menus in the Apple environment, making it completely intuitive in use.
